How to be a good roommate in Backpackers Dorms

If you are staying in a dorm room at a backpackers hostel you will need to be considerate of the people you are sharing your room with. In return, your roommates will consider your needs as well. Here are a few pointers to ensure a happy and rest filled stay at your Sydney Backpackers.

One of the most important things while travelling is getting a good nights sleep. It’s hard for anyone to function enough to enjoy the sights when they’re tired. Make sure to avoid unnecessary noise at night and keep conversations to a minimum. Use the individual night lights next to your bunk bed because no one likes having bright lights on when they are trying to catch some Z’s. We all want to keep in touch with family and friends back home so feel free to talk away! Just don’t do it in your room while your roommates are trying to sleep. Many backpackers work along the way to pay for their travels and it’s important that they have the energy for work and for fun. Had a few drinks? No problem here! Just try not to flop around too much getting into bed. We all like to let loose and that’s OK too! Let’s keep the party in the common areas or at one of the many pubs around town, not in the hallways at 4 AM. When in doubt use the golden rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Respecting your roommates is easy and ultimately will lead to new friends and enjoyable stay for all. Get the most out of your Sydney hostel by waking up fresh, happy and ready for a new adventure.
