A Sydney Backpackers Guide To Nights Out In Kings Cross

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

If you are looking for good nightlife in Sydney, Kings Cross is undoubtedly the place to be. With loads of bars that stay open until the early hours of the morning every day, every night feels like a Saturday night. A party backpackers idea of heaven. With loads of hostels situated in Kings Cross, and late buses running until late (shock- horror!), you have no excuse to visit! So grab your best outfit (I realise when backpacking this can prove a little tricky), change out of your flip-flops, and head down to the Cross.

Kings X Hotel
With great views across Kings Cross from the roof terrace bar, this is a great place to spend your Monday night in Kings Cross. Not as rowdy as other places, the Kings X Hotel is a great place to come for a drink with friends. It has 7 floors to choose from, so this means stairs. You will probably burn off all your beer-calories throughout the night going up and down… what a result!

Packed to the rafters with backpackers, this bar/club provides what every backpacker wants; cheap-ish drinks, competitions to win skydives etc, and free entry. Woo! The music is good if you like chart stuff and like to have a good boogie. It gets hot in there though, and keep an eye on your mates because once you lose them it’s unlikely you will find them again amongst the mass of sweaty bodies.

The World Bar
If dub-step is your thing, head down to World Bar on a Wednesday night. With many different dance floors, it caters for everyone, but the dub-step seems to bring in the biggest crowd. Known for it’s Teapot Cocktails (shots poured from the spout of a teapot), you will be up dancing well into the night and the early hours. Decadent and old fashioned in a vintage kind of way, this is a pretty cool place to spend your night in Kings Cross.

The Vegas Hotel
A great happy hour- from 5 pm until 7 pm, you can grab $3 schooners and $2.50 middies. If you would like a more chilled out night, head here. If you would like to watch sports this place is perfect. You can choose from 3 modern, comfortable lounge areas and no short of 15 plasma TVs all with free wifi. Top stuff for all you sports lovers.

Friday night at Soho is a mash-up of everything electro, house and party, so get your dancing shoes on. Head to Soho if you want to party looong into the early hours. This bar boasts free entry until 1 am and then $5 drinks all night. Not too shabby.

The Tunnel Club
Tucked a little off the main street in Potts Point, this place is a hidden gem of the Cross. A little pricey for some backpackers, with $20 entry (or $10 on Guestlist 10-11pm), you may only be heading here if you have a few extra dollars in the going out fund. Open until 6 am, get ready to party hard with top DJs and $5 shots until midnight.

Your Sydney hostel. After a hard week of partying, get a glass of water, stick on a film and have a Sunday night backpacker detox. Lovely.
