THIS WEEK AT THE JOLLY SWAGMAN BACKPACKERS SYDNEY HOSTEL:

Another very busy week at the swagman backpackers; new whitewash went up on the walls in the hallway to give the corridors a much needed make over. A huge thanks to guests for making a greater effort with kitchen cleaning; keep it up!

As the weather gets warmer, don't forget that the Swagman Hostel Sydney has many items to enhance your Australian summer experience; just ask at reception for soccer, rugby and beach balls. And never forget the barbeque hidden on the side of the building; its so tired of being underused! (and not cleaned after use, despite the heat it makes, this is of little obstacle to the ants and insects after succulent left-over sausage fat!).

THIS WEEK IN SYDNEY:

DINOSAURS: A fantastic natural history exhibition (the largest in the southern hemisphere) about our prehistoric ancestors. Was it climate change that killed them? Or smoking? Find out this week at the Australian Museum, just a 10 minute walk down William Street from the Jolly Swagman Backpackers Sydney Hostel.

EVELEIGH FARMER'S MARKET: One of many places you can sample Sydney's kooky market and bohemian culture, with incredible produce. Take the train from Kings Cross to Redfern Station; every Saturday 8:00-13:00. Other markets where foodies can pick up amazing fresh produce include the entertainment quarter, glebe, rozelle and paddy's. All are within easy reach of the Jolly Swagman; just ask reception for transit details.

EMERGING FROM THE GREEN: Surry Hills library hosts a free acoustic guitar concert every Saturday afternoon from 2-4pm. Not only free, this is the ultimate way to see some of Australia's best up and coming indie/folk musicians as they pluck their strings at their first gigs. Crown St, Surry Hills.

SYDNEY SPORTS:

Finally the moment we've all been waiting for; the spring re-opening of the Andrew "Boy" Charlton Pool! Swimmers wanting to find a lap pool in the heart of the city will delight in the salt-water 50m pool's reopening. Even for those who prefer to lounge on the deck and soak up the atmospheric views with a cocktail and book won't be disappointed. Mrs Macquarie's Rd. Five minute walk from the Jolly Swagman Hostel Sydney, just before the Botanic Gardens.

SYDNEY WEATHER:

Mainly fine for the week ahead with a weekly minimum temperature of 13 degrees and a maximum of 25 degrees. Possible showers on Tuesday.

SYDNEY TIP OF THE WEEK:

If you ever find the pulse of the city starting to mess with your head; why not escape it for a day. Reception has a variety of Travel and day trip packages to suit a variety of interests; some of our most popular include Hunter Valley Wine tasting, as well as the remarkable guided tours to the Blue Mountains to hike the Wentworth Falls and visit the ‘three sisters' Prices start from $60 and include lunch. BARGAIN!
